![]() ![]() If you send me a photo of your yard + internet photos of the plants you want to add, I would be happy to do a "quick & dirty" mockup for you as a one-time "freebie" (which you could then play around with in Gimp). I agree it would be ideal if there was a digital library that had lots of exotic palms preloaded. I spent a ton of time masking plants for my own yard designs, but now that I have a library of masked palms, I can drop them into other photos. The good news is that once you have a plant masked, you can reuse it in other designs. You sometimes also have to use the rubber stamp tool to remove unwanted objects. I haven't seen any sort of software on the market that includes a library of exotic palms, so you would have to do any masking yourself (i.e., download a photo of a plant from the internet, then paint a mask that removes the background). Pinnate palms are a pain to mask, but if you're just trying to get a general idea, you can set your masking brush edge to "fuzzy" and that will get you pretty close. ![]() The hard part (regardless of the software used) is "masking" the plant(s). ![]() Solution Key Number Two: the energy amount going out of the warm water is equal to the energy amount going into the cool water. To compute the absolute distance, it's the larger value minus the smaller value, so 85.0 to x is 85.0 minus x and the distance from x to 20.0 is x minus 20.0 That last paragraph may be a bit confusing, so let's compare it to a number line: The colder water goes up in temperature, so its Δt equals x minus 20.0. The warmer iron goes down from to 85.0 to x, so this means its Δt equals 85.0 minus x. Solution Key Number One: We start by calling the final, ending temperature 'x.' Keep in mind that BOTH the iron and the water will wind up at the temperature we are calling 'x.' Also, make sure you understand that the 'x' we are using IS NOT the Δt, but the FINAL temperature. ![]() This is very, very important.Ĭ) The energy which "flowed" out (of the warmer water) equals the energy which "flowed" in (to the colder water) The warmer metal will cool down (heat energy "flows" out of it).ī) The whole mixture will wind up at the SAME temperature. Who recovers memories of trauma, and what triggers these memories? All of these questions are important to understanding not just if recovered memories are a real phenomenon but also if the reasons that people doubt the validity of recovered memories are justified. Other questions of interest are the mechanisms by which traumatic memories can be made temporarily inaccessible (addressed here), who recovers traumatic memories, what contexts are traumatic memories recovered under, and what types of trauma do traumatic memories often involve. The main question is how often this occurs, and the second major question is what can increase the risk of traumatic memories being false. For reputable researchers of trauma, there is no debate over if genuine traumatic memories can be (or appear to be) repressed and then recovered. ![]() Many trauma survivors report having had no conscious access to memories of their trauma for a period of time (DePrince et al., 2012 Herman & Harvey, 1997), and many more report that they were temporarily unable to recall specific details about their trauma or specific traumatic instances (Beere, 2009 Herman & Harvey, 1997 Nijenhuis, Hart, & Steele, 2010). It is true that some researchers doubt that traumatic memories can be completely repressed outside of a few rare cases (Patihis and Pendergrast, 2018a), but this does not mean that they deny that traumatic memories can be temporarily forgotten and later more or less accurately remembered (Connolly & Read, 2007 Lindsay & Read, 1995 Loftus, 1993 Patihis & Pendergrast, 2018b). However, many discussions about repressed memories rely on outdated arguments and assumptions. It is difficult to learn of repressed memories without learning of the controversy surrounding their existence and validity. ![]() ![]() Can't expect everything for free!Īs I have to run DeltaCad under Wine, losing the macro language and the fact it does not support PolyLine (only lwPoyLine), I have to migrate. Other issues are that some of the commands are not functional are rather primitive, "Polyline Equidistant" is an example. If you use CAD all day you will appreciate keyboard short-cuts (avoiding menu mouse movements) and minimal steps. LibreCAD is slower to use as most things need more steps. I should point out that DeltaCAD is not an AutoCAD clone. The DeltraCAD user interface is much better than LibreCAD from the point of view of minimum mouse/hand movements and less steps to do things. probably shouldn't stir that pot though).I am migrating from DeltaCAD to LibreCAD. but, I'm an engineer, not a sales guy (and like most engineers, I don't have a whole lot of love for sales people. Yet vendors charge a boatload for lathe CAM. For simple (non live tooling) lathe CAM, it always struck me as super simple versus the 5 axis mill. I've never really understood why CAM vendors charge so much for that. And, based on your last sentence, it sounds like CamBam does have lathe support. Thank you for the feedback on CamBam, Oliver. F360 is quickly becoming irrelevant to me the same way AutoCAD did when their updates became so expensive (transferred my *legal* copy and have never looked back.) CamBam is probably at the top of my list. To that end, I am shopping for a new CAD/CAM solution. If I can't afford it, I don't buy it (and I've halted a lot of 'purchases' for just that reason). As I said before, I (personally) don't lease cars. I would rather learn to use a lower cost alternative that I can *own* than a really cool product (that has tons of features I really don't need but are super neat) that I *lease*. ![]() I've sat in enough meetings to know that (plus, it is just common sense). And, yes, even though we haven't been paying for the product, we are *absolutely* customers. Let us not forget, however, that there are two sides to the equation with customers being the balancing half. As an industry trend, I completely understand why companies *want* subscriptions. It is a quality organization, and I have a lot of respect for their development team. I actually *almost* worked for AutoDesk once, and I know a fair number of people that have done so. ![]() Sure, people have strong opinions (myself included regarding subscriptions), but there has been some great information here regarding different systems. I have to say that I'm really happy with the way this thread has progressed. Is it stable? Do you feel like it is going to be around for a while? How many axis does it support (I'm sure I could get that from the internet, I know)? Does it really generate good g-code? Are the posts well targeted to a controller (QCAD's for instance, generates massive files when built-in procedures on some controls would do the trick in very few lines)? Frankly, is it suited for a full size CNC? Fundamentally, are you happy with it? ![]() ![]() I'd really like to hear peoples thoughts about CamBam. I guess I'm not capable of being pleased! LOL. Having updates every 6 months to 'justify' a subscription is something I rail about, and now no updates bother me too. They finally came out with 1.0.0, but the length of development time caused me some concern. I mean, it was at version 0.9.8 for years, I think. Part of my problem with it is that I've never gotten the feeling that it is very well supported. What low cost/free CAM systems out there will do four or five axis g-code? Most of the lower cost CAM systems are 2.5D only, although some will do 3 simultaneous axis But, I guess that is a good topic for question. But, it will also be impossible for you to now program. It may not be as still as a Fanuc/Hass/Matsuura/etc, but it will definitely allow you to do an awful lot. Get a few steppers together plus a trunnion table and you'll have 5 axis pretty quickly for not much money. Unfortunately for them, I think that more and more people are doing multi axis CAM though. ![]() ![]() ![]() Check the settings in your print window to make sure 'Actual Size' is selected or scaling is set to 'None.'
